Menopause is a natural biological process that marks the end of a woman’s reproductive years, typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55. It’s defined as the time when a woman has gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period.
Menopause is not merely a reproductive event but a complex mind-body experience that affects mental and physical health. Despite the challenges, menopause is not an illness; it can be managed with awareness and support.
This transition involves fluctuating hormone levels, particularly oestrogen and progesterone, which impact various bodily functions and mental health. Common symptoms include hot flushes, mood swings, anxiety, and physical changes like muscle pain, weight gain, and heart palpitations. Brain-related effects, such as changes in cognitive function, mood, and sleep patterns, are also significant.
Approximately 1 billion women worldwide will experience menopause by 2030.
Despite the prevalence of this phase, knowledge about menopause and menstrual health is limited and often negatively framed.
This gap in understanding leaves many women unprepared for the physical, emotional, and mental changes that accompany menopause.

Menopause is one of the best-kept secrets in our society.
Not only do we lack as a society a proper education or customs of support around this rite of passage common to all women, but often, menopause isn’t even discussed within families. Often suffered in silence or secrecy. In our youth-obsessed culture we are missing a proper acknowledgement of this life changing transition of a woman’s life.
Sadly, all we have are generations of women who suffered misinformation, shame, and helplessness.
Understanding the menopause process and its broader implications on health can help you navigate this transition more effectively. With the right education and resources, menopause can be seen as a new beginning, a chance for you to reinvent yourself and embrace a new chapter of life with renewed purpose and strength.
It can be a time of reclaiming energy, wisdom, and intuition that may have been put aside during earlier stages of life. Menopause can serve as a gateway to a deeper and more sacred connection with the self, fostering growth, clarity, and inner peace.
